Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Project Architect to join their client's dynamic team in California. This role requires a talented professional who is passionate about leading architectural projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects through all phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, entitlements, and construction administration.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate high-quality construction document sets, ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and alignment with design standards.
  • Manage and mentor project staff, delegating tasks and ensuring project milestones and design budgets are met.
  • Oversee coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, landscape, etc.) to ensure fully integrated drawing sets.
  • Interpret, apply, and execute California Building Codes, ADA regulations, and Fair Housing requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with local permitting authorities (AHJs) and manage responses to plan check comments.
  • Review technical details, resolve complex design issues, and ensure constructability.
  • Support on-site construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and field observations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment that supports innovation and problem-solving.

Required Qualifications

  • Active California architectural license, held for at least 7 years.
  • 10+ years of professional architectural experience, including experience in an architectural firm environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program.
  • Strong, hands-on experience using Revit for production and coordination.
  • Proven experience with Type 1B and Type III podium residential projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of California Building Codes, ADA standards, and Fair Housing requirements.
  • Experience working with local agencies (AHJs) and navigating the permitting process.
  • Ability to lead team members, manage schedules, and maintain quality control across all project deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Additional Details

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
